Rituo is a skin booster that injects human-derived acellular dermal matrix (hADM) processed into microparticles.
It is mainly recommended for thin dermis, reduced elasticity, and areas lacking volume. It differs from Rejuran in the origin of its material and mechanism.
Sessions and intervals depend on skin condition; the principle is to decide them during consultation with individual differences in mind.
➊What is Rituo?
Rituo is a skin booster made by specially processing donated human skin to remove cells and immune-reactive components while retaining dermal structures such as collagen and elastin. This acellular dermal material is processed into fine particles for injection.
While familiar fillers fill empty spaces with a particular substance, Rituo takes a different approach by implanting material with a structure similar to skin itself.
The material was originally a graft used for many years in reconstructive surgery, such as burn treatment and breast reconstruction, before its use expanded to cosmetic injections.
Cell and animal studies report stimulation of fibroblasts to help produce collagen and hyaluronic acid. These are still cell and animal findings; effects of repeated, divided skin-booster injections in humans require separate confirmation.
➋How do Rituo and Rejuran differ?
The most common question concerns the difference from Rejuran.
Rituo uses human-derived acellular dermal material, while Rejuran uses a salmon-derived ingredient (PN). Both act in the dermis, but their raw-material origins differ.
Rejuran is closer to inducing cellular recovery signals. Rituo introduces a skin-like structural material that acts as a scaffold into which surrounding cells can grow.
There are not yet direct comparative data sufficient to conclude that one is better.
Rituo’s approach may fit visibly volume-deficient areas, while Rejuran is more commonly familiar for skin texture or overall tone improvement.
During consultation, we choose one according to the concern, or consider combining them depending on the condition.
| Category | Rituo | Rejuran |
|---|---|---|
| Raw material | Human-derived acellular dermis | Salmon-derived ingredient |
| Main approach | Structural support and volume | Induction of recovery signals |
| Common concerns | Reduced elasticity and volume loss | Texture and overall tone |
“Rituo is less a filling ingredient than a way of implanting a skin-like structure to help surrounding cells establish themselves.”
➌Are certain skin types particularly suited to Rituo?
In clinical experience, it is recommended relatively often to people who feel their dermis has thinned and lost elasticity, or are concerned about hollow-looking cheeks or temples.
Its scope is broader when pressing the skin clearly reveals thinness and reduced elasticity than when fine wrinkles alone are the concern.
For thin, sensitive areas around the eyes or mouth, smaller-particle products are selected rather than using large particles unchanged.
Thin skin is not automatically excluded, but the suitable form differs by area, so skin thickness and condition must first be assessed.

➍How many sessions, and at what intervals?
Cells need time to respond around the implanted material and for tissue to integrate naturally. We therefore often explain the following course.
| Category | Basic guidance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended sessions | Around 3 sessions | Initial course |
| Treatment interval | 3–4 weeks | Allows time for tissue integration |
| Subsequent care | Decide whether maintenance is needed | Adjust during consultation after assessing progress |
Some report noticeable change after the first session, but results more often develop as responses accumulate over several sessions.
There is no fixed formula: skin condition, the area of concern, and other combined procedures can change the plan. The principle is to monitor and adjust during consultation.
➎What are the side effects and precautions?
It is worth knowing beforehand that local reactions may be more common with Rituo than with conventional fillers.
Related research reported more pain, swelling, and heat at the treatment site than the comparator, but most reactions were mild and settled naturally within 1 week.
These are generally managed with cold compresses or prescribed pain medication.
Human-derived material requires an aseptic treatment environment for infection control. Consultation is essential beforehand if you have autoimmune disease or a coagulation disorder, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Some product families also contain porcine-derived ingredients, so disclose any related allergies beforehand.
➏Suitable candidates and less suitable cases
For people who feel their dermis has thinned and lost elasticity, or whose clear volume loss needs structural support, I have often found structural dermal reinforcement more suitable than a simply hydrating skin booster.
If you are sensitive to immediate swelling or pain, or want only modest texture improvement, another method may feel more comfortable.
- ✓ Clear elasticity and volume loss: focus on dermal structural support
- ✓ Sensitive to swelling or pain: consider a less irritating method first
- ✓ If both matter: select according to your goal during consultation
I believe the nature of the concern should come before revenue when recommending a procedure.
If I judge it unsuitable, I explain other methods first, and decide the direction after assessing skin thickness, the area of concern, and treatment history (individual results vary).

“For skin with thinned structure and lost volume, strengthening the structure often offers a more lasting answer than simply filling.”
QFrequently asked questions
Individual variation prevents a firm answer. The material needs time to settle and surrounding tissue to respond, so around 3 sessions at 3–4-week intervals are usually recommended.
They are sometimes planned together, but both stimulate the dermis, so the order and intervals need adjustment.
It is safer to decide the specific schedule during consultation.
More pain and swelling than conventional fillers have been reported, but the course is generally short and most settles within 1 week.
Thin areas around the eyes or mouth are not automatically excluded, since smaller-particle forms can be used.
Suitability for each area still needs confirmation during consultation.
Consultation first assesses skin thickness and areas of concern. Particle form and an injection plan are then selected before treatment proceeds.
The number and interval of sessions are explained during consultation according to your condition (individual results vary).

Rituo is less about filling an empty space than implanting a skin-like structure that provides a foundation for self-recovery.
Rituo is a skin booster that structurally reinforces skin with a thinned dermis and lost volume. It differs from Rejuran in raw-material origins and approach.
The suitable course and method differ between individuals, so we recommend receiving guidance after consultation at LUNN Clinic.

Injection-site pain, swelling, and bruising may occur. Human-derived material requires infection control, and allergic reactions may rarely occur (side-effect disclosure under Article 56 of the Medical Service Act).
Treatment and procedure results may vary depending on the individual’s condition.
